DEI to ESG is here to help those in diversified groups and organizations to pivot for funding and available business opportunities. Introducing M&A in the ESG model creates a way for new partnerships to be formed without disruption of federal funding, as seen in 2025. This was created in tandem with "Better Than Reparations" essay series, which expounds on how this is applicable in the last installment of the series, "The Results of Resurrected History and Her-Story." The current administration was contacted, along with the Institute of Museum and Library Services and National Civil Rights Museum, to let it be known that Marine Flow is in support of DEI and would like to share examples of how it is useful. When the president responded, which can be read on the "Better Than Reparations" blog, it was evident that DEI would continue to fade away under the current administration. So rather than fighting for something that is clearly being targeting, pivoting to something that assists overall and cannot be affected makes sense for those who work and study in this arena. M&A may be a relatively new concept as well. By combining these platforms, those who benefitted from DEI would be able to benefit from sources other than federal funding. This would cover the business side of minority owned businesses. Nonprofit organizations would be able to acquire funding that fall under the category of DEI without explicitly saying those terms. By pivoting to ESG, those organizations can win grants in the space that help more than just the target audience, while still catering to those who benefit from DEI initiatives most.
