Dear Investor, Partner, and Institutional Colleague,
We welcome you to an emerging conversation about artificial intelligence, cultural infrastructure, fiduciary stewardship, and the next generation of institutional value.
Marine Liquidity Fiduciary Flow Private Equity & Research LLC is developing a framework around a simple proposition:
The fact that an institution has extracted the primary information it needs from an asset does not necessarily mean that the asset has exhausted its value.
We believe this distinction creates an opportunity—not a restriction—for the artificial intelligence industry and the broader investment community.
Books, newspapers, manuscripts, educational materials, archives, and other physical knowledge assets can serve AI development and technological innovation while continuing to possess educational, historical, cultural, environmental, community, and intergenerational value. Our thesis therefore does not argue that AI should not use books or that technological innovation should be slowed. Instead, we ask a different institutional question:
What should responsible stewardship look like after the primary informational value has been extracted?
This question opens what we view as an emerging category of Cultural Infrastructure Assets and a corresponding opportunity to build better acquisition, disposition, ESG, and governance practices around them. The objective is to move beyond an extraction-only lifecycle and establish a stewardship lifecycle in which preservation, reuse, redistribution, archival access, and responsible disposition are considered alongside technological and financial objectives.
Our framework is organized around four pillars:
Fiduciary Stewardship → Residual Asset Value → ESG Measurement → Long-Term Institutional Trust
These pillars translate a cultural concern into an institutional and investment framework. They ask investors and deal teams to identify what value is being acquired, what value remains afterward, what may be lost or created through disposition decisions, and how those decisions affect ESG performance, partnerships, reputation, and long-term enterprise value. The companion M&A Due Diligence Framework applies these questions across diligence, valuation, negotiation, integration, and post-close reporting.
Perhaps most importantly, we believe AI can be part of the solution. The same technologies capable of identifying and extracting information can also help identify rarity, educational demand, geographic scarcity, historical significance, institutional relevance, and potential destinations for materials after digitization. In this model, AI moves from being solely a mechanism for extracting knowledge to becoming a tool for stewarding knowledge.
This creates room for many kinds of capital and expertise. We welcome dialogue with:
AI and technology investors · Private equity and M&A professionals · ESG and impact investors · Educational and library institutions · Archival and cultural organizations · Infrastructure investors · Family offices · Philanthropic partners · and individuals interested in long-term institutional value.
One does not have to oppose technological innovation to recognize the opportunity in responsible stewardship—and one does not have to be a technology investor to participate in the infrastructure surrounding the knowledge economy.
Marine Flow serves as the public research, educational, and cultural engagement layer of this work. Marine Liquidity Fiduciary Flow Private Equity & Research LLC develops the institutional frameworks, investment criteria, governance standards, partnership models, and implementation pathways capable of bringing those principles into practice.
We invite you to consider this work not as an argument against what the technology industry is building, but as an opportunity to help determine what responsible technological institutions can become. The long-term vision is a stewardship economy in which innovation and preservation are not competing objectives.
We believe the next generation of institutional value will be measured not only by what organizations are capable of extracting, but by what they are capable of preserving, transferring, and creating after extraction.
We welcome you to the conversation.
With appreciation,
Marine Liquidity Fiduciary Flow Private Equity & Research LLC
